BBR Success Story!

After years of not getting anywhere fast but wanting to make changes, James Webb was offered the best gift an employee could hope for – good health. At our BBR Airport location, James jumped at the chance of taking on a membership and then one of BBR’s supercharged six-week challenges offered up by his workplace. Since then, he’s shredded his physique and his excuses, and has become an absolute inspiration on the gym floor, at work and at home. This hardworking dad of two has transformed his health and mindset through the BBR protocol and we could not be prouder. Bring on whatever’s next for this weapon! Here’s James’ story…

BBR: Please tell us about your health and fitness history prior to BBR...

JW: I had tried countless times to get myself on track. I would try different forms of exercise and try to eat better but could never make it stick. I wasn’t getting results and would make excuses to not make the effort.

BBR: Who or what prompted you to sign up to BBR and why was it the right time for you to join?

JW: My employer had offered up gym memberships to its employees and when the challenge came around, they offered that too. A few of us signed up which was great as it came with a bit of healthy competition and banter.

BBR: How hard was it in the early days? What challenged you the most?

JW: I’m not going to lie, it was really tough the first few weeks. I think I only managed two or three sessions the first week as my muscles were so sore. It’s amazing how quickly your body adapts though and by week three, I was managing five to six sessions a week. The most challenging part for me was the food. The quantity of food was a real struggle. I found myself sitting with my head in my hands at the dinner table wondering if I could keep going and forcing myself to eat.

BBR: Were there any changes you made that were enjoyable or easy straight away?

JW: Honestly, there was nothing easy about any of it at the start. It’s a very conscious decision to step into the gym and eat the right foods. It’s about breaking those bad habits you’ve spent a lifetime making. Meal prepping is a must do when you’re starting out, this will set you up for success. Also find a gym buddy, this will help you keep accountable and make you turn up to a session when you say you will.

BBR: How long did it take for you to feel changes?

JW: I reckon it was about two weeks before I noticed anything. Once you get some confidence in the gym and with your body, you would be amazed at how strong you can become. The movements become easier, you have more energy, your confidence increases, and you get hungry!

BBR: Please tell us about the changes you've experienced over your time with BBR…

JW: I hate missing the gym now! It becomes a part of your life. I find myself looking for the healthier option when eating out and most of the time, I’m actually craving the healthy option anyway. My challenge was extended out to 10 weeks and saw amazing results. I lost 8.5kgs of fat and gained 3.2kg of muscle. My body fat percentage dropped from 26.3% to 17.8%.

Following the challenge Ryan put me into a bit of a maintenance phase before attempting a mini bulk and back into a deficit leading into Christmas. I was surprised at the results again. I had lost another 1.6kg of fat and gained 330g of muscle. The fact I had retained or even gained muscle during my deficit was a great result.

The total since I started in May was 10.2kg fat lost, 3.5kg of muscle gained and a body fat percentage of 16%.

BBR: Amazing James, with all those results already in the bank, do you have any upcoming goals you're working on for 2025 and beyond?

JW: This year I want to work on putting on some more muscle and seeing if I can maintain a lower body fat percentage. Continuing good habits and working on learning more about training schedules and nutrition.

Fast five fav\\es

BBR: Fave exercise or session at BBR?

JW: Isn’t there only one answer to this, anything arms but bicep curls in particular!

BBR: Least fave?

JW: Sissy squats.

BBR: Fave BBR plan meal?

JW: Cocoa Puffs, I love my cereal, haha!

BBR: Fave café and your order there?

JW: Nowhere in particular but my go to is an Almond Latte. If I’m feeling naughty I might add a vanilla shot.

BBR: Fave holiday destination?

JW: This is tough, but I love anything snow related so I’d have to say Canada.
