BBR Six Week Challenge Wrap up

What a way to kick off the year!! We had 130 members participate in the first challenge of 2024.  Right out of the blocks, we had a lot of new members that were keen to “new year, new me” and were hungry for change. I took a lot of new members through PT sessions in January and set them up to hit the ground running once the challenge began. At the start of a new year we expect some new faces, but didn’t expect to onboard so many positive, happy people keen to start their fitness journey.

The seminar is the barometer for the Six Week Challenge and I can see who is really committed. Anyone that is running in the door still changing from work clothes to gym clothes, members dragging kids along or rescheduling other commitments to make the seminar shows how ready they are for change. The main variable for success in the challenge is WILLINGNESS TO CHANGE. When I have the first call with members signing up, I always ask, on a scale of 1 to 10 how motivated and ready for change are you? As a coach, that should always be the first question.

The perfect food plan, programming and training won’t have an impact unless there is a high willingness to change.  Mindset, intent, education, execution, review, repeat.

We had so many people implement this with laser focus. But to show what a successful challenge looks like… Let’s talk about the winners….

Challenge winners

Kate O’Keefe

Gary Moloney

Kate had an exceptional six-week challenge and went from strength to strength every week. She started strong and brought everything to the gym we love to see. She engaged with all members, she trained hard and motivated others along the way. If you haven’t read her full blog post click this link.  You couldn’t ask for better results than what she achieved, 8.8kg down in 6 weeks.

Gary is the ultimate quiet achiever, he would stroll in with a big smile and ready to train. He listened and always took on board what the coaches had to say. He was always one of the first members to check in on Wednesday with our weekly weigh-ins. He started to attract some looks a few weeks in as this was his second BBR challenge, his first challenge he did really well but when he took his shirt off for the after photos HE. WAS. RIPPED.  Myself and the other trainers applauded him for his effort and, well, check the photo below and read more about his story here.

Out of the 130 members we had great engagement with over 100 check ins every week. There have been a few people at BBR that are so consistent and I just had to recognise them with a shout out and some coaches awards.

Tahlia Latino

Every morning when I would be opening the gates at Claremont at around 4:45AM I would see a guy walking. At first I would think “geez this bloke is keen walking at 4:45AM” then he would wave at me, It was Rob. This was another case of catching a few eyes after a few weeks but then when the shirt came off for the photos, we were all seriously impressed by his shape. He was lean but held a great amount of muscle, and his shoulders and arms were popping. Admittedly he was knocking out a few push ups at home before the photos and we put him through a 10-15 min pump up routine before the pics. Another great read with some good insights is in Rob’s blog, read it here  if you haven’t already. And, check his rig in his photos. Some serious inspo for any blokes looking to rip into shape.

Paige has been an absolute asset to BBR since joining. Training with her bestie Annie Sutherland (who also deserves a shoutout!), they have both been a really strong presence at BBR, training at all locations and are some of our youngest members. THEY TRAIN HARD and always lift the intensity in the classes they train in. Paige has some seriously impressive data and has made big changes in body composition since starting BBR. I hope by sharing her story other females in her age range decide to start training and introduce healthy habits. Inspiring blog incoming..

The other shoutouts I must recognise are Ali Thorpe and Tahlia Latino, our airport members who are the DNA at this location. They round up the whole crew for coffee on Saturday mornings and make sure all new members feel welcomed. Their consistency and work ethic every day, every session is unwavering, and you can feel the energy they bring into classes. Again, another duo who are true BBR barometers. They both look incredible and have just gone another level since committing. Well done ladies and thank you. Stay tuned for blog articles on these ladies who have incredible stories.

I could write a book about each challenge and all the impressive feats that take place in that short amount of time, the stories of members that have their backs against the wall and still produce results - this is what inspiration is. I’ll hopefully be able to share these stories one day but also want to respect the privacy of members. For now I’ll do my best to recognise the hard work of our members and how much energy they put into classes and making BBR what it is.

As we move into the second quarter of the year I’m beyond excited with the direction we’re moving at BBR. We’ve brought in more class times across the locations, different modalities of training strength, hypertrophy, HIIT, Pilates and we’ll be introducing mobility classes in the next month. We have a great relationship with Recovery Lab in Jolimont so members can recover properly through sauna, ice baths, meditation and compression. Check out Pump kitchen in Floreat that does food prep for members and offers great food options for breakfast and lunch that are calorie and macro-friendly. Nathan at North Fremantle Chiro continues to keep all BBR members in alignment and offers a great service. Finally, Humming Hive offers breathwork, meditation and sound healing, which I highly recommend and love what this brings to our offering at BBR. It is simply the yin to our yang.

Throughout 2024 and beyond, we’ll continue to establish great relationships with other businesses that will offer our members more value and make sure we all can give ourselves the best chance of being the best versions of ourselves.

Much love,

Rhino
