BBR: Firstly, How long have you been training at BBR and what brought you to BBR / How did you find us?
AC: I started training at BBR a week before the last challenge, at the end of January 2024. I was looking to be in better shape this year. The last five years have been a physical roller coaster between extended COVID lockdowns in the UK, moving to Australia, and training less. I wasn't happy with my body and fitness level.
What was your first impression of BBR? What did you see or hear and how did it compare to your experience?
I heard about BBR from members who came to StretchLab in Claremont last year; they were all very enthusiastic and in great shape. Then, I started following BBR on IG and read about the challenge just before Christmas. I thought that would be the perfect Christmas gift for myself.
RESULTS! Thank you for being vulnerable enough to share. Can you please tell us your results since starting at BBR and in the last 6 week challenge? Weight loss? DEXA Scan? Blood work? Body fat and lean muscle? Belt sizes ? Dress sizes?
I had fantastic results in 6 weeks. I lost 5.6% body fat, 5.145kg of fat, and gained 447g of lean mass. Funny enough, I also increased my bone density. I'm so happy to fit into my old clothes again.
What other benefits have you experienced since joining BBR?
The challenge was really enjoyable. I learned that I needed to eat more protein, generally more than I used to. Now I weigh all my meals. I loved all the classes; I didn't know I would enjoy weightlifting that much. Another benefit I found very interesting is that my mind was sharper. I'm definitely more focused on my work and studies.
What challenges did you have to overcome during the 6 Week Challenge?
Eating meat every day wasn't easy. I love cooking, so I can't say I love meal preps, but after a few weeks, I found my way to cook my prepped meals with different spices to make them less boring.
What surprised you the most about your experience during the 6-week challenge?
A very quick change in body shape in just 3 weeks, the results were visible to my friends.
How did the support from the community or your fellow challenge participants contribute to your success?
The community is fantastic, always smiling and friendly, even when we're sweating. The challenge group is inspiring too; it's definitely motivating to see that we are not alone in struggling with training, meal preps, or staying on track, even when you're invited to a fancy restaurant or a wedding.
What strategies or habits did you develop during the challenge that you plan to continue in your fitness journey?
My mantra was 'A challenge is a challenge!' I signed up, so I decided I would fully commit, and I am really proud to say I did it! No alcohol, no cheese, and no bread for 6 weeks (I'm French, so this is a big deal :))
