BBR Success Story!
You just never know who you might be inspiring… One of our Airport members Sean Quinlivan was one of our 2023 Transformation of the Year finalists who not only built an impressive set of guns, he transformed his whole lifestyle. His wife Lauren was a beneficiary of these changes and decided in 2024 she was following suit. Considering she has a decent fitness background already, Lauren was still blown away by the positive changes she created over the six week challenge. Here’s Lauren’s story…
BBR: Please tell us about your health and fitness history prior to BBR...
LQ: Before BBR I had been at Powerlifting gym for 7 years training 3 times per week. I also play club netball during the winter season and social netball all year round.
BBR: Who or what prompted you to sign up to BBR and why was it the right time for you to join?
LQ: It was the end of netball season, and I had 8 weeks until we were taking the kids Europe for 6 weeks over Christmas. I wanted to change up my training and challenge myself for the last part of the year. My husband Sean had been training at the Airport gym for a while and he has had some great results so I decided to join him.
BBR: How hard was it in the early days? What challenged you the most?
LQ: I didn’t find it too hard as I had been strength training for a long while a knew most of the movements. Upper body days were the most challenging and the small rest times took some getting used to.
BBR: Were there any changes you made that were enjoyable or easy straight away?
LQ: I fell in the routine quickly and I found that after the first week I really enjoyed having a meal plan and not having to think about what I would eat every day.
BBR: How long did it take for you to feel changes?
LQ: After the first few weeks into the challenge, I noticed that my rest heart rate had dropped, and I felt like I had a lot more energy.
BBR: Please tell us about the changes you've experienced over your time with BBR…
LQ: In my 6 weeks challenge I lost 4.5kg, reduced my waist measurement by 6cm and my overall fitness increased. I felt stronger and more energised. It’s easy to stay on track when you are seeing results across the board.
BBR: You were already a bit of a weapon with your powerlifting and netball, what was it about BBR that helped you achieve such impressive results?
LQ: I think for me definitely increasing the amount of days I train and sticking to a structured meal plan.
I have always gone to the gym, played sport and been active, but the structure BBR provided with programming and meal plans was the tipping point to achieving the results. I also think progress is addictive so when you are seeing results from making simple changes you're motivated to keep going.
BBR: How’s your netball game improved?
LQ: I did my BBR challenge during the netball off season and was only playing socially but I did feel fitter. Preseason has started for me now which is nicely timed with the upcoming challenge so I am keen to see how it improves my game.
BBR: Do you have any upcoming goals you're working on for 2025 and beyond?
LQ: After 6 weeks in Europe my plan is to complete the Feb challenge and focus on getting as fit, strong and lean as possible.
