BBR Spotlight On… Claremont

Happy New Year team! We are preparing to have our biggest year yet at BBR with our challenges going more in-depth to analyse your body’s transformation, two retreats in Bali and programming that will push you way beyond your limits. We have set our huge 2024 goals, written them down and getting stuck into them - and we are so ready to help you hit yours.

We are launching a ‘spotlight on’ series over January to introduce you to our three spaces. First up, Claremont our OG space that owner and head trainer Ryan Devereux opened in 2017 at the Royal Showgrounds, with both a HIIT and Strength gym. Here are a few Claremont weapons who share why they train here.

How long have you been training at BBR and what led you here?

I found BBR in late 2017 and started training with Ryan and the team at Claremont at the start of 2018. I came straight into a January challenge that year. I found BBR after watching a few people in my network totally transform their health and fitness during 2017 at BBR. I was pretty keen to get some of that!

My favourite thing about training at BBR Claremont is…

The consistently high-quality training, the friendly vibes and encouraging, positive, supportive community atmosphere. The focus on positive mindset as well as physical training and nutrition.

What’s the best lesson or takeaway you’ve learnt from BBR? Or… what is the most positive impact BBR has had on your life and why?

In 2018, in that first 3-4 months training, my commitment to BBR saw me quickly transform my own health, fitness, physique and mindset. I arrived at BBR at a pretty low point, off the back of a very tough period in my life. The impact of BBR was profound at that time, and it has remained a positive place for me to come and focus on my health and wellbeing ever since.

When I’m not training at BBR, you’ll find me…

Enjoying life… between mothering two teenage sons, training at BBR and doing a bit of work, you’ll find me oscillating between Perth, Margs and Indonesia - jumping in the ocean, listening to good tunes, drinking plenty of coffee and having a yarn, practicing yoga, maxing out my heartrate with boxing, going for plenty of walks and/or cruising around on my bike in the sunshine.

How long have you been training at BBR and what led you here?

Coming up for six years. My friend Cath suddenly started to look super fit and happy, so me and my other friend Cath followed her lead into the Claremont gym.

My favourite thing about training at BBR Claremont is…

1. My gym friends - especially my special training buddies.
2. The trainers - they are all very welcoming, kind people.
3. The music - though a bit more Harry and some 70's glam rock wouldn’t go astray.

What’s the best lesson or takeaway you’ve learnt from BBR? Or… what is the most positive impact BBR has had on your life and why?

Lifting heavy things increases your chances of still playing sport as you get old! And… Second lunch is a thing!

When I’m not training at BBR you will find me….

Outside in the fresh air with Bob the dog.

How long have you been training at BBR and what led you here?

I started at BBR in May 2022 after I watched Elyn keep shrinking at school pick up. She had suggested BBR for ages but when my weight hit obesity, I knew I had to do something to change. I was overweight and hated photos of myself. Neeti and Katie said they would sign up with me and that we would do a challenge. Ryan called me convinced me to join the challenge as a starting point, so I signed up and the rest is history.

My favourite thing about training at BBR Claremont is….

How safe and at home I feel. Even at the very start, the trainers and the other members all made me feel like I belonged and the consistent encouragement to push myself harder every session made me feel unstoppable and my goals achievable. Having other mentors like Katie, Elle and Mel Trend who inspire me to be better and stronger and more consistent. I also love that so many great friends have signed up and love it as much as I do.

What is the best takeaway you’ve learnt from BBR or what is the most positive impact BBR has had on my life and why?

“Mummy is strong” is not something I get tired of hearing my kids say. Knowing that they see me changing and improving habits to be healthy and strong makes me realise the impact BBR has made on not just me but the whole family. Ben now trains with me 6 times a week and my big boys want to train at the school gym and the little two want Dave to start the school holidays sessions again so they too can be part of BBR.

When I’m not training at BBR you will find me….

Being a mummy Uber to my four kids, volunteering for something in the community (Cott Rugby club, Cott Primary School P&C, Cott Surf Life Saving Club and Cott Junior Footy Club) or camping somewhere great with my family in the Outback of WA any chance we can get

Tyson Grover

How long have you been training at BBR and what led you here?

18 months. My mate Luke Hughes was a trainer and suggested I come and check it out! I’m very glad he did because I’ve found the whole experience so enriching and life changing really.

My favourite thing about training at BBR Claremont is…

The programming.

What’s the best lesson or takeaway you’ve learnt from BBR? Or… what is the most positive impact BBR has had on your life and why?

The culture of BBR is what really sets it apart. The training culture set from Ryan and the trainers is spot on but so is the culture led by the BBR community. It’s one of REAL support and encouragement of your fellow athletes but also there is genuine care for each other as people outside of the gym. I just love seeing everyone every day and love being in such an uplifting environment.

When I’m not training at BBR, you’ll find me…

Spending time with my dog Vinnie!

If you want to join these legends in our first challenge of the year, email us  as soon as possible as limited spots remain. Keep your eyes peeled for our next Spotlight on series focusing on our second BBR location - Jolimont!

Until then, set some big goals, write them down and get your ass to the gym. We’ll be waiting.
